Welcome.
I am a former journalist and public relations professional counting over 44 years’ experience, including more than 30 years in the GCC region.
You will find below a snapshot of my career.
1981 – 2000
As a journalist for 19 years, I have covered diverse areas including trade, tourism, airline industry, civil conflicts, intellectual property, environment and sports. I started as a cricket writer for The Island newspaper in Sri Lanka in 1981. Since then, I have continued to enjoy many memorable moments in my 44-year journey from journalism to public relations – whether it was while working for the Haveeru and Spectrum newspapers in The Maldives, for the Sunday Times in Sri Lanka, for AFP as a correspondent covering the war in both Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, for Khaleej Times in Oman and Dubai or as a PR person engaged in promoting leading organisations and prominent individuals.
2000-2026
As a PR professional I have been specialising in the field of retail, real estate, festivals and events in Dubai. I have enjoyed stints at two leading marketing communications agencies in Dubai – BPG Group and The Classic Partnership – that are a part of the WPP Group, one of the world’s largest communications services groups. Since 2012 I have served as Chief Editor of a Dubai government establishment, overseeing editorial content across a diverse range of topics including tourism, the economy, retail, festivals and events.
